Rob Heslop

Technical & Design Engineer

Since joining the business in 2006, I don't think there's a cubicle configuration I've been asked to solve that hasn't been achievable, although some have been challenging!! One of the things I enjoy most about my role is working closely with your ideas and design teams to resolve a technical difficulty on a demanding design led project.

When I first joined ALM we used AutoCAD to draw up everything, whilst this worked well, it was really only a 2D package. After a lot of research, we decided to invest heavily in Solidworks 3D design software, this now gives me the opportunity to model ideas in 3D, ensuring everything fits together before we start to cut metal and invest in tooling.

As well as working with your design ideas, I spend a lot of time developing ideas with Tony, he’s always coming up with different ideas, and the latest of which we developed over an 18 month period is the Cubic-LED™ Indicator Lock, an exciting project which will revolutionise the style of traditional indicator locks.

At ALM, the business values revolve around staff and you, our customers and we are always here to offer a helping hand, whether that’s to point you in the right direction for a particular lock or bracket, designing a completely bespoke solution to a particular problem, or taking off requirements from a complete set of architects plans and converting these into a quote and hopefully an order from you.

Outside of ALM I enjoy walking, spending time with family and motorcycling.
